1 Asset finance Our pick
The machine secures its own loan and the term can match its working life.
2 Property-secured loan
Worth it if the gear is old, imported or very specialised.
3 Unsecured loan
Handy for the deposit or extras, not the whole machine.

No credit check to ask
Finding out which structure suits you doesn't leave a mark on your credit file. A check only comes up if you choose to go ahead.
Not sprayed to a crowd
Your enquiry isn't auctioned off to a list of lenders. One specialist works out the best fit and talks you through it.
A real person, honest verdict
Someone reads your answers and calls you. Fill the form in accurately and the first option you hear is far more likely to be the right one.

How we judge
Every verdict uses the same five tests
Fair means consistent. Each loan structure is scored on the things that decide whether it works for a real business.
1. Security
What has to be put up: property, the asset itself, a guarantee, or nothing beyond your trading record.
2. Flexibility
Can you draw, repay and redraw, or is it a fixed sum on a fixed schedule?
3. Paperwork
Bank statements only, or valuations, financials and legal steps?
4. Total cost
Everything you'll pay in dollars, fees included. Never judged on a headline rate.
5. Fit to the job
Does the term match how long the money is working for you?
Myth, meet verdict
Four things owners get told that don't hold up
MythThe loan with the lowest repayment is the cheapest.
VerdictOften the opposite. A longer term shrinks the repayment and grows the total. Compare total cost first.
MythUnsecured means no strings attached.
VerdictMost unsecured business loans still need a director guarantee, which makes you personally responsible if the business can't pay.
MythApplying to five lenders gets you the best deal.
VerdictMultiple applications can each leave an enquiry on your credit file. One well-matched application usually beats five scattered ones.
MythA line of credit is just an overdraft by another name.
VerdictThey work similarly, but limits, fees and how repayments are set can differ a lot. Read the terms, not the label.

Questions owners ask us
What is the best business loan in Australia?
There isn't one best loan, only the best structure for a particular job. Equipment usually suits asset finance, uneven cash flow suits a line of credit, a big purchase over years suits a property-secured term loan, and a short property-linked gap suits a caveat or bridging loan. Our verdict pages work through each case.
Do you rate or rank lenders?
No. Our verdicts are about loan structures for situations, not about lenders or brands. When you enquire, a specialist looks at your situation and matches it to a suitable lender. Your details aren't sent out to a crowd.
Will enquiring affect my credit file?
No. There's no credit check when you first enquire. It only comes up later, if you decide to go ahead with a specific application.
How much can a business borrow?
Property-secured business loans run from $20,000 to $5,000,000 against residential or commercial property. Unsecured, cash flow and line-of-credit options for trading businesses are typically $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements. Business purposes only.
Can I get a business loan with bad credit or an ATO debt?
Both are considered case by case. Security, such as property, often widens the options. The fairest thing you can do is be upfront about it on the form, so the first option you hear is one that can actually work.
Why don't you publish interest rates?
Because every business loan is priced on the borrower's own circumstances, a headline rate would mislead more people than it helps. Compare real offers on total cost in dollars instead. Our free comparer does the sums.
Who runs Best Biz Loan?
